My Story — The Journey Behind the Marcelis Compassion Method

After more than 25 years as a licensed massage therapist, along with extensive training in holistic and integrative approaches, I have spent much of my professional life understanding the connection between the body, emotions, and overall well-being.

But my understanding of grief became deeply personal.

I experienced the unexpected loss of my youngest adult brother. A year later, I experienced another profound loss—the death of my beloved dog. Both losses affected me deeply, and I realized that I needed support to process what I was experiencing.

With the love and guidance of friends, family, and therapists, I began exploring different perspectives on grief and loss. I listened to podcasts and sought out resources that explored grief, spirituality, reincarnation, and the many ways people make meaning of profound loss.

During this journey, my massage therapist, Alejandra, encouraged me to explore Family Constellation work. That recommendation became an important turning point.

Discovering Family Constellation

Family Constellation is an experiential approach that explores the relationships, patterns, and dynamics within a family system. It can offer a different perspective on experiences that may feel difficult to understand or that seem to repeat across generations.

For me, discovering Family Constellation created an opportunity to look at my experiences through a wider lens—with curiosity, compassion, and greater awareness.

I later completed training in Family Constellation, not only as part of my professional development, but also as an extension of my own personal journey.

Integral Energy Therapy

I also completed training in Integral Energy Therapy, an approach that incorporates energetic awareness and complementary practices to support relaxation, self-awareness, and a greater sense of balance.

Rather than viewing these approaches as a replacement for conventional healthcare or mental-health care, I see them as complementary tools that can be thoughtfully integrated into a person's wellness journey.

From Personal Experience to a Compassionate Method

My education continued, but so did my personal process of grief.

I learned that healing does not necessarily mean forgetting, letting go of love, or moving on from the people and beings who have shaped our lives.

Sometimes healing means finding a way to carry the experience differently.

My professional experience working with the body, combined with my training in holistic modalities and my own experience with loss, eventually became the foundation for what I now call the Marcelis Compassion Method.

This approach brings together compassionate presence, somatic awareness, and complementary practices to create a supportive space for people navigating grief, loss, and significant life transitions.

I do not approach this work as someone who has all the answers. I approach it as a practitioner who understands that grief is deeply personal and that every person's journey is different.

My intention is to offer a space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, listen to your body, and explore your experience with compassion—without judgment and without pressure to follow someone else's timeline.

Your grief is part of your story. It does not have to define the rest of it.

Supporting the body.

Holding the heart.

Awakening transformation.

From Grief Toward Transformation

Transformation does not mean forgetting.

It does not mean leaving your loved one, your memories, or your experience behind.

It can mean finding a different relationship with what has happened—one that allows you to carry the love, honor the experience, and gradually create space for life to continue.

Healing can be a process of becoming more connected to yourself, not becoming someone different.
